Our lanolin-free moisturiser and emollients
If your skin is easily irritated by lanolin and by other irritants, such as essential oils or synthetic fragrances, it is best to opt for moisturisers and emollients without added fragrance. Every product in our scent-free skin care collection is lanolin-free.
For an ultra-gentle, lanolin-free moisturiser that can be used day and night, we suggest our Scent Free Anti-Ageing 24 Hour Cream. Ideal for replenishing delicate skin barriers, it’s our gentlest emollient for damaged, inflamed or easily irritated skin. We love it for its soothing touch and moisture-retaining actives.

For added nourishment we combine these oils with a range of natural plant actives including Aloe Vera, Shea Butter and Squalane, which work together to nourish, moisturise and soften your hands.

Our lanolin-free shampoos
If some hair care products leave your scalp feeling inflamed, it is a good idea to switch to a lanolin-free shampoo. All Green People organic hair care products are lanolin-free and our hair care collection includes lanolin-free shampoo, lanolin-free conditioners and lanolin-free hair serums.
If your scalp is irritated, we suggest initially using our Scent Free Shampoo which is a lanolin-free shampoo that’s suitable for all hair types. Made without SLS, scalp-irritating alcohols or essential oils, it gently cleanses the hair and soothes sensitive scalps.

Our lanolin-free lip balm
If you need a lanolin-free lip balm, our One Balm lip balm is a great choice for you.
Lip balms are largely comprised of wax and while lanolin is an oily wax that will envelop the lips and lock in moisture, other natural waxes, such as the Beeswax used in One Balm, have similar benefits.
To make One Balm so effective at protecting and softening dry lips, we combine Beeswax with Omega-rich plant oils with reparative properties. These include Rosehip, Pomegranate and Sunflower Oil.

Our lanolin-free sun creams
Eczema sufferers can be at greater risk of experiencing an allergic reaction to lanolin and may also find that chemical filters used in some sun creams can aggravate their skin.
So that everyone can enjoy the skin safely we make our organic sunscreens without lanolin, harsh chemicals, synthetic fragrance or pore-clogging ingredients. This makes our natural sun care the ideal choice for sensitive skin and people prone to prickly heat.

What is lanolin?
Lanolin is a wax that is found in the fleece coats of animals such as sheep and lambs.
Generally, lanolin is considered a safe cosmetic ingredient that is well tolerated by the skin but it can also be easily contaminated and is a known skin allergen.
It is thought that as many as 2% of people with eczema or dermatitis have a lanolin allergyi and because the ingredient has the potential to irritate sensitive skin, we err on the side of caution and do not use it in any of our products.
Another reason that we do not use lanolin is because the ingredient is not suitable for vegans.
As a cruelty-free and PETA approved brand we avoid using animal derived ingredients as much as possible and do not believe it is necessary to extract this ingredient from animal coats for cosmetic purposes.
Instead we make our range of cruelty-free and lanolin-free balms, salves and beauty products with natural plant waxes, such as Berry Wax and Carnauba Wax.
